Ch:7 Texas - Family and Friends

After leaving SLAUGHTERVILE and the first outing using Harvest host we headed off to Dallas and Austin Texas to see some old friends and family that needed to properly meet Sammy still--My grandparents had never met my wife to be. At this point in our journey we were still very green to the RV life and decided to not roll the dice with Boondocking as we tested our systems out. RV parks and home pluggins were our only way of keeping our systems operational and while not moving we also relied heavily on our AC system to keep sam from killing me--she changes in heat.
With standard temps hitting in the high 90's and humidity higher then a rainy Denver. We were not prepared for this type of weather with our Coloradan Wool loving selves. At this point I think I started to understand the idea of hawian shirts and started to dream of a clothes rack full of them over nights.
Our Beast of an RV was also still chugging right along as well as leaving her mark every we went with puddles of oil and Stearing fluid.
Come to find out most of these RV's have a leak in the power stearing system and the best approach is to just keep topping off every 700 miles or so. Rebuilds last only a few months before they start to drip again according to the pros. If we had started working on the RV sooner I could see us having spent more time fine tunning the engine but at this point we were pushing up against several deadlines that we had set for ourselves.
As we rolled into Dallas to see a few buddies it was time to shift gears from adventure mode and switch to meeting people again. It was our first experience on the road of meeting people and its a tricky dance when you have your whole house on wheels with you. Most people want to host you and invite you in for multiple meals but now that we had our house we also wanted to rest our heads on our bed and possibly host a meal or two while staying. How to go about that was still a learning lesson. Trying to serve food to 4 adults and 2 kids in the RV was maybe not the best priority to have but Im glad we were able to pull it off. Also spendnig the nights going down memory lane and about things we were planning on doing in our futures was a blast. Until the Next time we all meet :)
Off to Austin for us.

Along the way we got to try a few breweries and new eataries.

In Oklahoma we were introduced to the Indian Taco and here we were introduced to $10 faccocia bread. Was it the best faccocia bread I've ever had... Yes but we were expecting a full loaf not a 4"x4" square. That aside, We made it to the hippy capital in Texas. Where there once was a man who walked the streets in a pink thong. That same man also ran for mayor many times and as a kid I remember seeing them as we drove to an AlJafree Exhibit.

Being silly...
At this point we were meeting my Texan Grandparents in town and decided to treat them to Terry Blacks.

One of the best BBQ places in all of Austin according to Reddit. Not to be confused with some other chain version. Grandparents said it was the best Barbque they had ever had in their entire lives so I assume that ment something since they are well old and great judges of Barbque since this is their home turff. (just kidding it became a hot topic of debate and Im going to write my own history here.)
Sam and I ended up at a Toy museum and checking out some bat bridge.
The following day we headed off to San Antonio afor a night and then our First National Park was next up.
